If I could spend the rest of my life just playing, writing, and performing, I'd want for nothing else. I believe that to share the joy of understanding and creating music with another is the greatest gift I can give them. Teaching is how I give back what I feel to be an enormous karmic debt I owe the world for allowing me the delights of acting as a vessel for music. Read More

I've also found that a combination of classical and modern music and Jazz can go a long way in helping students enjoy the piano and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. If a student isn't having fun in their lessons, then I'm not doing my job! My students are encouraged to enter competitions and recitals, as well as work on composing their own original material, so they can feel good about their accomplishments and stay motivated to learn. I am an instructor with a passion for learning, performing and teaching music. I fully enjoy working with students who want to learn how to play guitar, bass, ukulele because I like to inspire and foster my love of music and pass it along to others. While I have an advanced educational background in humanities disciplines, I am mostly self-educated in music. It's a lifelong learning experience of more than 40 years that has led me to perform in local pop, rock, country and jazz groups and to teach music as a way to share my gifts and talents. Read More

There has been a lot that I have learned over my musical journey thus far. Teaching has been a fulfilling way to do share that! Building consistent processes for learning and practicing have proven very useful for students and myself alike. I make it a priority to structure lessons around every individual's musical goals and interests. Students will learn methods for their own artistic expression. Some facilitations of this could be songwriting, learning favorite songs, expanding knowledge of music theory, performance skills and much more! Read More

I absolutely love getting students really excited about their instrument. I like to show videos of high level playing and introduce a wide variety of genres and styles while I find exactly what it is that inspires the student to play. My lesson structure normally consists of a warm up, rudiment/sticking work, reading or playing exercise and new concepts, then work on a song. I really try to get my students playing along with tracks so they can hear how drums sound in a band setting and apply it to their playing! Read More

The most important thing for me is that the student is playing in every lesson. I like to know what the student enjoys listening to, and go from there. It is my belief that there is nothing too hard to learn. Whatever the student is interested in, I promise we can get there. Learning songs not only helps build interests, but is one of the best ways to learn. I strongly believe in the importance of improvisation because I believe it helps develop many skills, and I love jamming with students in lessons. Read More
