My approach and methods of teaching are simply this: Enjoy the learning experience without getting bogged down with staring at sheet music for hours on end. Ear training and motor memory will provide a much more enjoyable learning experience and will render results at a much faster pace than "books". However, "books" are important to some degree I admit. But, practice and dedication will render the most important result....and that is ....PLAYING AND ENJOYING THE GUITAR!!!!!!!....and the music and joy it brings along. Read More

Once again, my philosophy with teaching has always been learning through fun and engaging activities that enhance a lesson. I want my space to be open, fun and positive. Nothing is worse than dreading a lesson or time together. I want the students to be willing to take chances and risks that lead to accomplishing their goals. I want the students to have input within their lessons when it comes to the music itself and how they want to progress. Read More

The most important aspect of teaching for me is seeing my students develop a love and curiosity for music. Nothing makes a better musician than a deep personal passion and desire to learn more about the subject. This is why each student will develop at their own pace. By setting realistic goals for each student that will both challenge and inspire them, I can better tailor my methods of instruction to their needs. Read More

I will make sure that the students have songs and music books that they will enjoy learning and performing. I will leave it up to the students if they wish to do a recital. Read More

My teaching style varies depending on the level of the student. For beginners, I often keep my approach lax and hope to not overwhelm them, as Ive seen many a beginner quit due to lack of confidence and understanding. Every student requires a different approach not just due to their skill level but also their personality. Certain students dont take criticism well, while others may only improve through it. I always try to be kind and understanding no matter where my students skill level or passion is at. Read More

There is not one specific method that I use to teach; I use combinations of various methods which I have learned over the years, and I tailor the lessons to best fit each individual student's level and what they are interested in musically. While I recommend learning to read music, I will not force anyone to do it if they don't want to. And just remember, even Jimi Hendrix couldn't read music. Read More
