Mike is an instructor, and professional guitarist/perfomer/songwriter based out of New Jersey.
I am a soon to be graduate of Rowan University, studying bass with a Jazz Studies degree. I have been playing and studying music for 16 years starting with piano at the age of 8. In the 4th grade I picked up clarinet for the school band and played that until graduating from high school. When I was 12 I switched from piano to electric bass and have been playing it ever since in various styles from rock to jazz to classical and so on. After graduating high school I started learning upright bass in college.
I'm a long standing guitar instructor, very pleased with my occupation. I actually hold a degree in science rather than music but I just celebrated my 10th anniversary as a guitar instructor as well as my 22nd anniversary as a guitarist. I love all kinds of music and personally enjoy learning many styles of guitar, which in turn allows me to teach a wider variety, so that students can develop their own personal styles and interests. I want students to be up front about the things that wish to learn (as they discover them!) and the types of music that they themselves love. If you want to shred, play the blues, fingerpick, learn music theory and reading, be a folk singer, or whatever it is, I'll get you there. I also encourage students to form bands, enter competitions and recitals, which I'm than happy to setup.
I'm a motivated and understanding tutor and I thoroughly enjoy guiding a student as they grow as a musician. I am a Graduate from Tech Music Schools/Bimm London where I achevied first class honours in my Bachelor of music degree. Music has allowed me to travel all over the world playing for various artists performing an eclectic mix of musical genres. Performing sold out UK tours to playing intimate jazz performances my strengths lie in my versatility and improvisation. I have a huge passion for music which I have shared with many students over the years.
I am a great lover of music! I have enjoyed playing drums and guitar for many years. I have played drums in various bands both original and cover music as well as my guitar in singer/songwriter fashion. I sing as well to accompany my performance. I have taught private music lessons as well as preschool music enrichment classes. I still perform in a cover band known as Now and Later where I play drums and guitar as well as sing lead and background harmonies. I enjoy teaching private music lessons in home studio and sharing my knowledge and love of music with my students. I also play an original Children's Music Show for children ages 3 to 6 at schools and birthday parties. This show consists of original children's songs and includes singing, movement and child participation through puppets and some drawing and imagination as well!

We recommend that older students looking to take up guitar lessons have a clear goal in mind, such as learning some of their favorite songs or learning to write their own compositions. The experienced teachers in our network can help you to develop the necessary skills to attain your musical goals. Learning any instrument can take time, as you will need to develop your co-ordination and muscle memory in order to start playing chords, riffs, and solos. The best and quickest way to learn these fundamental skills is to take regular lessons and practice your guitar playing as often as possible.
Before purchasing a guitar, it may be beneficial to get the advice of a teacher, friend or relative who has experience with guitar. Their experiences with local reputable music stores may be invaluable and save you a lot of time. The first options to consider are whether to buy a new or used instrument, and whether you want to buy an acoustic or electric guitar. Student models for either can usually be purchased for around $150-200. Used instruments do not always cost less, as some instruments retain their value; notably higher quality American made guitars like Fender or Gibson.
At Musika, we appreciate that every student learns at their own pace. As such, the experienced teachers in our network produce customized guitar lessons specifically for the requirements of each individual student. Teachers can design lessons for any student, regardless of their age, experience, or ability. Some of the things students can expect to learn during their lessons are learning all the notes of the guitar, playing and rhythmic techniques such as fretting, fingering, and strumming, how to read musical notation and tablature, learning how to play a variety of different chords, such as open and barre chords, and music theory. Over time, as each student progresses, they will learn how to piece everything they have learned together, in order to form complete compositions. Students can learn to play their favorite songs, or even to write their own music!
Students can start their lessons as young as 6 years old with a half size classical guitar (nylon strings), by playing simple songs on the top strings. Most students are able to form chords by age 7 or 8, and begin learning how to play and sing along with their favorite songs. Older students will graduate to being able to comfortably handle a full size guitar around age 10-12, which is when many students become more interested in learning rock guitar and want to get an electric model.
Need to save time because of your busy schedule? Why not try in-home guitar lessons? A qualified instructor in our network can travel to you and provide excellent quality instruction in the comfort and convenience of your own home.

I've been taking lessons from Michael once a week for eight weeks now, and with his help I have made dramatic improvements with my sax. Michael is a funny, nice, patient and all around great instructor. I'd recommend Michael, as an instructor, to anyone who wants to improve their skills and have fun while doing it.

We've only had a few lessons with Elisa, but so far we really like her. She has a lot of great suggestions for solo pieces as well as orchestral music that involves all 3 of my boys, while also including some Christian music that we can play at church. She is very patient in explaining the lessons and encouraging!

Dave is a fantastic teacher. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to students that I think is invaluable. At the same time, this does not limit him from working with beginning students. He is very communicative with the parents as far as schedule changes. We are so grateful to have found him!!

Steve is an excellent instructor. My son has really connected with him and he is learning the guitar quickly. Steve is patient and never rushes through a lesson in order to make it fit within the session time limit. In addition, before he leaves, he writes notes and instructions for my son to follow. By the next lesson, my son is confident in what Steve has taught him. Most importantly, Steve builds my son's confidence in his own own ability and progress after each lesson.

Unbelievably Awesome. My daughter is a beginner and has some special needs. Justin is more than patient and helpful while being completely thorough and pushing her (in a good way) to try harder. He is encouraging and teaches effectively. I am very pleased. More important, so is my daughter. Thank you Musika! So grateful we found your service and connected with Justin. We highly recommend him.

I was skeptical at first not knowing what I was getting my self into.. I am very happy that I forced myself to get into voice lessons because Eli is an awsome voice coach.. Very skillful and he helps you reach the goal you are trying to reach.. He is also very helpful with getting you to open up and come out of your shell and being heard.. I would and I already have recommended friends and family to sign up with Eli if they're serious about singing..

My daughter, Valarie is one of the original members of the Enrichment Center Percussion Ensemble under the guidance of Aaron. He patiently worked with Valarie as well as the other five members individually and as a group to produce music that has been shared and enjoyed locally as well as nationally. He has the ability to seek out the strengths of each student while building confidence. Through his teachings, not only had Valarie learned how to produce and enjoy music, but also responsibility and so many life skills for everyday living.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
