My teaching is fairly heavy on music theory. I try to get my students to really understand how music works. I usually will ask a student if there is any particular song that they want to work towards learning, and direct lessons towards that, but I ultimately want my students to be able to learn new material easily on their own, improvise and pick music out easily by ear.
People often ask if I am strict or laid back. I am neither. We work hard, but we're also so focused and motivated that the time flies by before we know it. Lastly, I never ask my students to copy anyone. I encourage my them to be original. The music I give them is only a guide. The goal is to motivate them to play what is in their hearts. I truly look forward to sharing my skills and experience with you or a member of your family.
I have taught one-on-one lessons for guitar, voice, piano, and trumpet for multiple years. My lessons are student-driven so that the learner can begin to critically think about and perform music on their own without the constant "need" for a teacher. I have taught a wide-range of learners of different ages and abilities. With the guidance from me, learners feel confident in their ability to successfully perform.
In my lessons I integrate music theory with instrumental technique as I feel that comprehension of the music is essential to better performance and developing better musicianship. I will work with students to help them learn repertoire that they are interested in and excited about as well as serving them their healthy music vegetables to help them develop as musicians. There are several methods books that I like to work with; Simandl's New Method for Double Bass, Hal Leonard's Essential Elements, and George Vance's Progressive Repertoire.
I'm a motivated and understanding tutor and I thoroughly enjoy guiding a student as they grow as a musician. I am a Graduate from Tech Music Schools/Bimm London where I achevied first class honours in my Bachelor of music degree. Music has allowed me to travel all over the world playing for various artists performing an eclectic mix of musical genres. Performing sold out UK tours to playing intimate jazz performances my strengths lie in my versatility and improvisation. I have a huge passion for music which I have shared with many students over the years.

At Musika, we suggest that adult learners begin their guitar lessons with a clear and achievable goal to work towards. For beginners, this might be to learn to play a few of their favorite songs, or maybe to develop their own compositional skills! Advanced players may have a specific technique they wish to improve or to take their general playing to the next level. Learning to play the guitar can take time, and it may take months before you start to realize your goals. With regular lessons and practice, the teachers in our network can ensure you achieve those goals.
The age of the student may determine what kind of guitar you should purchase. Younger students usually start with an acoustic guitar, either 1/2 or 3/4 size. Students 10 and up can usually play an electric guitar without much trouble, or feeling of being overwhelmed by the extra accessories such as cables, and amps. Most teenage students and many adults will want the sound of the electric - just make sure to speak with your teacher about what you need to get started.
Using a half sized classical guitar with nylon strings, students can start to play guitar at age 6. A half sized guitar is easier to hold, and the nylon strings are softer on the fingers than steel strings. At this age, students will learn simple songs on the top strings. Around the age of 7 or 8, students are able to progress to playing chords. By age 10-12, students can graduate to playing a full sized guitar. Often at this age, students want to learn to play various rock music, and will therefore want to play the electric guitar.
The teachers in our network create a customized lesson plan for every student, so no two students' lesson plans will be identical. Topics covered during Musika's guitar lessons may include, but are not limited to: learning the notes on guitar, proper fretting, fingering, and strumming technique, how to read music, learning all open chords, how to play barre chords, how to tune a guitar, music theory, and most importantly, how to have fun playing the guitar!
Taking in home guitar lessons saves you time, energy, and money. There is no need to pack up the guitar or amp to take to the teachers' studio, since a qualified, talented teacher can travel directly to your home. We make finding a teacher easy by matching you with a teacher in our network who fits your needs and schedule.

My two daughters wanted to study piano fore some time now and just recently I found Musikalessons website and teacher Milica. I can only say that my daughters are very happy with their piano lessons and simply adore Milica. They already made a great progress and we're all happy with what they learned in this short period. Thank you Musikalessons and Milica.

Unbelievably Awesome. My daughter is a beginner and has some special needs. Justin is more than patient and helpful while being completely thorough and pushing her (in a good way) to try harder. He is encouraging and teaches effectively. I am very pleased. More important, so is my daughter. Thank you Musika! So grateful we found your service and connected with Justin. We highly recommend him.

Dan gave private clarinet lessons to my daughter, Annie, for two years. During that time, she excelled as a member of the middle school band, and maintained first-chair. Dan is an excellent teacher, and Annie looked forward to having one-on-one time with him. In addition to practicing pieces with her, he helped her with scales and greatly improved her tone quality.

Bill has been a great teacher for both my 6 yr. old and my 8 yr. old. He is always on time, keeps them engaged, and gives them just enough of a challenge for the next week. They are both beginners, but I am surprised by how much they already know after just a month or so of lessons. Both kids are practicing willingly and look forward to lesson.

She is the most amazing teacher ever. She is not only w great teacher but she's so fun to work with. She has taught me so many things in such little amount of time things I didn't even know I could do. I recommend Andrea to everyone. She is an amazing singer and cares a lot about her students. She's the best!!

Angela is a phenomenal teacher. She is full of charisma and is a joy to work with. Most of my experience with her has been focused on working in the Alexander Technique and she seems very knowledgeable in this study. I would highly recommend her to any prospective student. I have seen myself improve dramatically in a few short weeks with her guidance (and much practice of course!)

Noel is amazing. She is helping me to work toward my vocal goals for auditions to several musical theaters. She has helped me choose strong audition pieces and is teaching excellent ways to get the sound I need in a safe and healthy way. She works outside our lessons on new warm ups and new music pieces. She is the best.

Jessie is the finest musician I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. I find her overall concept of approaching an instrument to be both comprehensive and effective. Each technique she has acquired has made it possible for her to tailor her method to a variety of ages and individuals. I cannot speak more highly of Miss Jessie's abilities. Her lengthy and impressive cradecials speak for themselves. I recommend no hesitation in seeking her services!

We value Chelsea for the quality of her lessons, but also for the flexibility of her schedule. She has worked around family vacations, impromptu summer camps and the upcoming school year. Emily is better prepared to start middle school band this year due to flute lessons from Chelsea and we plan to continue the lessons for the foreseeable future.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
