I like to challenge my students to be the best they can be as musicians. For the serious candidates, inspiration is a necessity! On top of lessons they are encouraged to grow by listening to other musicians learning from them. I value the teacher and student relationship. I try to have as much fun as possible while still maintaining a high expectiation of performance.  I am, by trade and training, a comedian, so jokes and laughter abound. Most of my students might say I'm not as funny as I think I am, but we still have fun! I am, however a stickler for learning the basics of music theory and correct use of vocabulary. I had to create "wiggle room" for following his joy whilst remaining instructionally relevant. Other students require more structure, have different musical passions, etc. so I follow that accordingly and when required draft precise, singular goal oriented lesson plans. Humbly though, I would say that Adam taught me to improvise on an a higher level than I'd ever been asked to or thought possible, which for a jazz musician is really saying something. Read More

After graduating, I moved to Southern California with the prospects of teaching and seeking other opportunities in music. I began teaching students in high school when there was a need that a student in the band needed some instruction. My second stint at teaching came in 2009 to 2012 when I taught Middle School and High school students from complete beginners to experienced players. I am a motivated teacher who loves to teach flute and to share my passion of music.  I graduated from San Francisco State University with my Bachelors in Music in Classical Flute Performance.  I have studied with Leslie Chin and the second chair of the San Francisco Symphony, Linda Lukas.  I have been able to work with some great conductors such as Dr. Martin Seggelke and John Williams.  I am currently working on the soundtrack for the upcoming Star Wars film and I have completed the season 5 soundtrack of Game of Thrones in November of 2014.
