As a musician, I believe that while learning and making music it is important not only to learn the fundamental techniques required for the instrument, but to have fun while playing. Playing and making music should be an enjoyable past time for all people of all ages, without judgement because of skill level or genre. I'm most comfortable working with beginner to intermediate students, ages 7-11. Initially, I will provide my students with an assessment to learn more about the student's interest and performance level. Subsequently, based upon the assessment results, I will provide my students with a series of warm-up exercises designed to support proper posture, breathing and the overall handling of their respective instrument for every session . Nothing makes me happier than being able to teach my students and help them learn or enhance their ability to perform flute and understand the music they are sharing with others. I enjoy helping my students achieve more and continuously inspire them to become better musicians. Through regular practice and mentorship, I teach them to became independent and confident performers. I believe that developing a methodical way of practicing and thinking about music reading, tone production, and creating rhythm is the key to unlocking the ability of students to enjoy the music they produce. Therefore, my teaching style is methodical in that I try to be consistent with expectations for prepared material and activities for each lesson, while also being flexible to the unique needs of individual students.
