I studied transverse flute at Moravian College with Robin Kani from 1985-1992. From March 1996 to May 1997, I studied with Brooks De-Wetter Smith at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I studied recorder for two semesters at Moravian College with professors Dr. Paul Larson and Dr. Larry Lipkis, composer in residence and performer with the Baltimore Consort. 1994 I began to teach privately. I always begin a lesson with a warm up. This can look different depending on the student, however I emphasize the importance of warming up your lungs, fingers, embouchure, and body. I then move to scales. For my beginner students, I use methods to learn the quick fingerings that is needed for basic fundamentals as well as exercises that assist in how we blow into the flute.
