I am a motivated teacher who loves to teach flute and to share my passion of music.  I graduated from San Francisco State University with my Bachelors in Music in Classical Flute Performance.  I have studied with Leslie Chin and the second chair of the San Francisco Symphony, Linda Lukas.  I have been able to work with some great conductors such as Dr. Martin Seggelke and John Williams.  I am currently working on the soundtrack for the upcoming Star Wars film and I have completed the season 5 soundtrack of Game of Thrones in November of 2014. I traversed conflict-countries carrying only my flute, I was welcomed to cities and performed alongside renowned musicians in places like Havana, Seattle, Ramallah and Beijing. I love seeing my students grow in their knowledge and appreciation of music! Excellence is rewarding, and I teach the process to get there from whatever level we begin. I use positive reinforcement and notice what the student is doing right. Then, I give critique and an action plan to improve performance. It feels good for the student and teacher when they learn the methods to break down what is currently difficult into smaller pieces so that it is both manageable and possible to go further than they thought. To me, music has always been an emotional outlet, so while I do place a large emphasis on having the fundamental skills necessary for performance, I also really value and emphasize musicality. I want students to feel like learning the flute is accessible, and I love seeing them progress at their own pace. I also want students to have ownership of their learning process – if there are songs/skills that they'd like to learn, I'd love to work with them to figure out how they can achieve those goals.
