I am an enthusiastic and talented music instructor who loves working with students and sharing my passion for music.  I graduated from the University of Mary Washington in the Fall of 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in music.  I have a wide variety of musical talents, including theory, performance and composition.  My primary instrument is flute and I am comfortable teaching any age group and any skill level. For my beginning students who are children, I may start them with Hal Leonards Essential Elements and/or the Rubank Method. Once they begin to learn the basics and and can grasp the fundamentals, I can begin to introduce solo pieces. For adults, I try to learn about what level the student is and what their interests are so that I can cater my lessons accordingly. I personalize my lesson plans and drills to accommodate the student's strengths, weaknesses, and over all goal. I will push you to your limits so you can go even further than you thought you could. I have taught all ages how to perform music. I have experience teaching from elementary ages through collegiate level students and beyond. I use positive reinforcement to get students motivated about practicing and I always want to put their musical interests as a top priority. I normally use the Standard of Excellence method books for most of my students; however, I am open minded to adjusting to each individual student's musical needs, whether it be Jazz, Classical, or whatever style music the student is focusing on. For Drummers, I prefer the Haskell Harr Method, or the Buddy Rich Method Book, as well as the Breeze Easy Method Book.
