I have a Bachelor of Music as well as two Masters of Music, one in orchestral flute performance and the other specializing in contemporary performance. While growing up in San Diego I served as the principal flutist of the San Diego Youth Symphony, and played with local community orchestras. Daniel is a versatile musician, composer, and educator. He began playing saxophone at age 11, and has since expanded his repertoire to include multiple woodwind instruments. Originally from midcoast Maine, Daniel has been based primarily out of New York since 2008 when he began his studies at Purchase College. Daniel looks forward to remaining an active teacher in the tri-state area, and a return to Purchase College, this time as a graduate student and he has also recently moved full-time to New York City! I believe that technique and musicality go hand in hand. I do not believe that one is more important than the other; instead, you cannot truly have one without the other. The most important aspect of playing music, is that, in and of itself, music! I like to foster an environment with any student where creativity and individuality are top priority. Especially with young students who are still self conscious, if they feel safe with their instrument in hand to create freely, I have no doubt they will be able to perform with greater ease later on in life.
