I taught music for several years in college as part of arts mentorship programs conducted in Trenton. In general I believe that music education should be inclusive and accessible to people of all backgrounds and skill levels, and I also believe strengthening foundational technique by encouraging regular practice of scales and exercises is very important. In addition to teaching classical repertoire, I'm also open to teaching any genre of music that a student might be interested in – the flute is really versatile and I'd love to work with students to explore their interests more! I have been teaching since college, where I frequently filled in as a substitute for private and group lessons and offered coaching to other music students who were pursuing flute as a secondary instrument. I then worked at several band programs in the Austin area, teaching private lessons and sectionals, while I was pursuing my master's degree. Currently, I am a Teaching Artist at Play on Philly, a non-profit organization offering musical instruction to underserved communities. Read More

I teach the way that I do because I want my students to have the confidence that I often lacked growing up and because I want them to know all the things I wish Id known when I was their age. I work with students of all ages and levels to achieve their musical goals, from cleaning up and solidifying fundamentals to preparing for major performances, auditions, and a career in music. For flute, I use method books by Trevor Wye. If the student is a beginner, I will start the student with the Beginners Book for the Flute by Trevor Wye (Book 1 and 2.) Once the student is finished with these books, the student is now ready for the intermediate and advanced books by Trevor Wye. It is a set of 5 books that focuses on each aspect of the flute, such as tone and technique. Read More

My teaching style is versatile. What may work for one student may not work for another. The student's goals will be centered as we embark on the path the student wants to take. This path can be composed of academic aspirations, personal curiosities for specific genres, folk music from foreign countries, or even just songs, self-composed or not. Your destination guides my lesson plan and the theory, tone exercises and all that jazz help to get us there smoothly. Read More

I begain teaching as a band assistant in college. I would lead sectionals and work with students who where struggiling one on one. As I gained experiance my role and responsibly grew and I began to run rehearsals and plan for concerts. One aspect of lessons that I emphasise is musicality. Often I will ask my students to listen to the song that they are working on or watch the movie or tv show it comes from because it is important to hear and see the bigger picture. Read More
