I started teaching from my home in 1976. I have been teaching at a studio near my home since 1999. I have taught from ages five to sixty-eight, from beginner to advanced. Some of my former students are now professional pianists. I took up the flute in 1985 in order to work with my husband, a classical guitarist, and we have been making beautiful music together. This seems to progress at a very suitable speed, comfortable yet still challenging, and has proved to be quite effective in getting basics down. If a student wants to work on one specific style, be it classical, jazz, or pop oriented music, I will show them the music, materials, and methods required for mastery in that subject. I try to teach things both visually and by ear, so that the student does not feel that they have to wait to play fun music until they are advanced enough.
