I am a fun to work with teacher who focuses on the student carefully. I listen well to get a better idea of how my teaching is being received. I graduated from Dematha high school in Hyattsville, MD. I have lots of experience teaching; I began teaching in my private in-home studio right after college about 6 years ago. I was even interviewed about my teaching and performing for papers in the Delmarva region. In educational outreach I have performed serveral times over the last couple years with the Musical Ambassadors Program that the Richmond Symphony founded, playing woodwind quintet music in schools all over Virginia and teaching the kids about elements of music and the instruments we play. Additionally I've taught many private lessons in North Carolina and York Pennsylvania. I am proud to say my students have received honors including first chair in NCMEA All-District Jazz Ensemble as well as the ECU School of Music Scholarship. Read More

I teach half hour lessons and instruct the student on good reading habits, how to practice and perform, encouraging them to bring in any supplemental music they are working on at school or on the internet. The importance of practice cannot be over emphasized, nor can the encouragement (nagging!!) Of an interested parent. A student cannot learn an instrument just by coming to lessons. The teacher's role is to guide, correct and instruct the student on what to do at home to truly become a musician. Read More

I like to see what the student is currently working on, interested in, or what the school district encourages.   I am open to student / parent wishes; I understand that while some student goals are to find a career with music, there are many who are looking to grow within a hobby! There are several method books I prefer for different reasons, so I will do my best after some discussion to find an appropriate fit for the student.  If there is an adult learner looking to start, I'd do the same. My greatest joy in teaching is seeing my students surpass me and go on to become musicians that love expressing their souls through song! It is my desire to see each student progress at their own rate without stress. first I make it a point to find out why they want to learn and where do they picture themselves going with this ability. Once we have established realistic goals for the student I like to encourage them to try out for competitions and music groups, so that they are exercising their talents effectively. Read More
