My teaching experience dates back to high school when I taught lessons during my senior year. I had a very solid foundation in the basics of breathing which has served me well. My teaching style is fun and engaging! In a typical lesson, I chat with a student for 1-2 minutes, go into warm-ups, drone work, technique, etudes, concert pieces, and sight-reading. Goals are set with all parties involved (student, parent/guardian, teacher, music director). I love to inspire my student through many various avenues while giving them additional musical opportunities where they can perform or learn new skills. If the student isn't motivated or doesn't care, then I need to change something! Read More

In my Doctorate I also had the opportunity to be Teacher assistant for 2 years for Master students and undergrad where my focus was jazz, blues, pop and all sorts of commercial music. Read More

When it comes to teaching, I like to tailor each lesson to what the student needs, and that may be slightly different for each person. I find duets are a great way to get better at sight reading and improving tuning, so I usually bring a level appropriate duet or two to each lesson. Scales, basic music theory and even some music history are all part of lessons, in addition to other repertoire to develop tone, technique, and musicianship. Read More
