I love seeing my students get better, and different things make different students improve. I like to find what that is for each individual student. For example, some are more interested in reading the notes, and others are better at learning by ear. I try to work with each student's strong points and use the strengths to work on improving the weaknesses. Read More

I typically tailor my lesson plans to the needs of the student. In general, I will allocate appropriate Etudes, Scales, and Repertoire that is inline with their abilities and the standards of their particular instrument. If they are preparing for an upcoming performance or audition, that may take precedent. But I also think there is equal need for unstructured time that allows students to explore music as a creativity medium via music listening, exploratory exercises, improvisation, or even composition. my experiences as a musician include performing in both classical and jazz groups in every venue imaginable. These performances include recital halls, banquet halls, school auditoriums, night clubs, bars, restaurants, weddings, parties, church ceremonies, community theater and parades. I encourage my students to practice like I practice and to perform as often as they can. I play classical music every day and I like for my students to study a classical piece because it helps them develop technique rapidly. Read More

Currently Im coaching a jazz ensemble at an NYC public middle school and am working with kids that might not have the resources to study privately. Over the summer, I worked at a summer program with some special needs kids where I created and implemented a music appreciation program. Read More

I use different method books, depending on the student's age and past experience (if any). I particularly like the Alfred methods, but I supplement this with solo books and duets. For duets, I like the Alfred Learn to Play Duets, but also the Selected Duets (Rubank) series. I think it's very important for any student to play solos with piano and once students know a few notes, there are really nice pieces they can do. Read More

I began teaching flute lessons 7 years ago, and have been teaching students at local schools and in my home. I teach both individual one-on-one lessons as well as group lessons. I am committed, determined, and passionate teacher hoping to help students raise their standards. Establishing good work ethic, practice habits, and confidence are some of the key points I like to emphasize for students as I believe are strong qualities to have not only in music but in their daily lives as well.
