I believe in tailoring my lesson plans to individual students. I like to target a students musical goals and help them achieve them whether it be through method books or passing down techniques. I've been fortunate enough to have been around many incredible educators throughout the years and try to take the methods they've showed me and apply it to my own teaching style. For beginner students who are children, I will typically start with Bastien Piano Elements and/or Piano Adventures. Additionally, I'll incorporate popular musical melodies in EZ plays and have my students begin learning chords so they can begin lead sheet reading some of their favorite tunes. I began teaching in my college days, when I would help friends learn different instruments. My experience includes working at School of Rock Red Bank, where I taught guitar, drums and bass. I encourage my students to develop their own musical tastes and to learn music as a language. My methods of teaching are universal for both young, old, new, beginner, or advanced. I take a very strong stance on rudimentary preparedness and understanding as well as the importance of maintaining physical composure while playing drums. The drums are obviously a physical instrument so exerting force in the correct and relaxed emotion while maintaining maximum results is a consistent. Whether it is playing snare drum, a drum set, or doing a variety of percussion work at a gig or practicing from your house, these are matters that are needed to be addressed. Read More
