My career in Music Education began in elementary school when I accompanied my Sunday School holiday programs on the piano at age 10. During my teenage years, I accompanied my church and high school concert choir. After graduating from college, I became certified in music and decided to teach piano full-time. I wrote a curriculum and established my own music studio which has expanded into a music education program that provides music instruction to pre-school-12th grade students in state educational institutions, charter schools, churches and camps. Many times, new drummers are hard on themselves or put unnecessary pressure on themselves to be good immediately, which can actually limit their progress. I have always enjoyed helping students circumvent this unnecessary pressure, so that the process of learning how to play drums remains fun and rewarding unto itself and becomes less overly focused on the final product. He considers himself an improviser, coalescing his range of influences into a unified sonic vocabulary that can be incorporated across genre and medium. Navarro is a part of the liberation-oriented free jazz collective, Irreversible Entanglements. After their highly acclaimed self-titled debut album on International Anthem, a second album is due to be released in 2020. Navarro also has a duo project with Brooklyn-based drummer Tcheser Holmes.
