We learn to hold the sticks the right way so you can play any technique later on. We concentrate on control and sounding clean. We move on to drum beats and fills . I like to develop a plan to get each student to a level of proficiency in which they can direct themselves toward the next goal. During the year and a half I worked there, I discovered a genuine love for sharing the passion and enthusiasm I had for music with my students. This usually requires setting goals that my students can reach with adequate practice, and constantly encouraging them throughout lessons. I believe that when students are given the right encouragement and acknowledgement they are more likely to succeed and have even more drive to learn.
