Overview:
I have been a very active performing drummer for the past 20 years. I recorded three albums that were released worldwide with my band Scelerata. I did five Brazilian tours (50+ shows) as Paul DiAnno’s (former Iron Maiden’s lead singer) official drummer, from 2009 to 2014. In the summer of 2017, I recorded Rage In My Eyes’ first album in Los Angeles. In March 2018, I performed with America’s Got Talent winner Bianca Ryan. I also used to play live every week, back in Brazil, with my Top 40 rock band Street Flash. I am currently the drummer for Rage In My Eyes, Worldwide Panic, Saul Losada and Feral Vinca.
EXPERIENCE
I have been working with Music Education for more than a decade and a half, teaching the art of drumming in the form of private lessons since 2002. In 2007 I joined the faculty of one of Brazil’s finest drum institutes, called Bateras Beat, where I taught for ten invigorating years. My role there was to teach performance, technique and reading applied to ensemble practices. In June 2017, after four years of intense studying, I graduated in Music Education with an average grade of 9.84 over 10. Immediately after graduation, I moved to Los Angeles to enroll at the Musicians Institute (MI) Drum Performance Program, granted with two scholarships, the ‘Musicianship Scholarship’ and the ‘International Musicians Merit Scholarship’. I am very proud of the 15+ years of teaching music and the formal training I had in Music Education and at MI. In 2015, I had the opportunity to teach symphonic percussion to teenagers at Escola de Música da OSPA (Porto Alegre’s Symphony Orchestra school). In 2016, I taught core music lessons to classes of High School teenagers, and to classes of 3rd grade kids, both in my hometown, Porto Alegre, Brazil.
METHODS USED
My methods vary according to the student's level and experience. I provide a clear lesson plan complete with goals, achievement levels, and performances. * For kids: All the kids feel like rock stars because I make sure each lesson is both fun and enriching. When teaching kids I use a song based teaching system so they are learning songs they love while they get the academic benefits of music. * For teenagers and adults aiming for professionalism: I push my students to develop sophisticated hand and foot techniques, working rudiments on the pad and applied to the kit. Depending on the students' improvement, I work performance with harder songs and books. Reading is also a key aspect on my lessons. I also teach advanced double bass drumming for those who are interested. * For hobby drummers: I don't push that hard on technique and reading, but it's there. Minimal technique is important so you can have fun instead of struggling with the sticks and the kit. Also a song based system.
LESSON STYLE
As a Music Educator, I know that music makes a huge impact on people’s lives. It goes beyond learning and playing an instrument or singing. It has also to do with self-confidence, self-esteem, improving social and motor skills and bringing people together. Music is a unique form of expression and allows people to be creative and show the world what is their perspective of life. I am a very easy going guy, very patient with the students and I always become good friends with them. Some of them even became some of my best friends. I try to deliver what the student is looking for, always in a fun, respectful, motivational and passionate way.

My daughter took lessons from Francis from 8 to 11 years old. It was very surprising the results of her drum lessons during the three years she studied with Francis. I felt that she really enjoyed what she was doing. Those great days still reflect a lot on her life today. She has a light motor skill issue, which improved a lot with the drum lessons. I noticed that she also improved at school, more focused on her duties, and even here social life got better, since there was always a new groove to show her friends. Today she still plays, and she loves it. This was a wonderful time of learning and development. (Lúcia Lima, Calena’s mother)

I've known Francis for over a decade now and I can't stress enough how much of a great person he is! I've had lessons with him on and off over the years and the reason I keep coming back to him is because he's the best music teacher I've ever had! He's not only very skilful but also very knowledgeable! He truly listens to me and creates lessons that not only keep me excited but also improve my drumming! Because we live in different continents in different time zones we have our lessons online and they work as great as they did when we used to study in person all those years ago.. I couldn't recommend Francis more for his teaching or for his character! A truly dedicated teacher and amazing person!

Francis has been so patient with me! From helping me learn to read music to challenging me to overcome stage fright, he has been encouraging, supportive, and a teacher I look forward to learning from every week! I wish I had 10 stars to give!

Teacher Francis is awesome. My 7-year old has ADHD and Francis manages to keep him engaged and paying attention for 30 minutes, which is not easy. He knows how to communicate on his level, and to explain things clearly and simply. He’s also just a great guy.

Francis provides drum lessons to my son virtually and is truly amazing, professional, patient, and incredibly talented. He assigns homework that encourages different levels of practicing and advancing in skills as each week goes by. He is extremely flexible and works within our schedule. My son truly loves working with Francis and I echo the review below, I also wish we could give 10 stars. Would recommend +++++
