The most important goal to me when teaching anyone of any level is to have them leave feeling like they've actually learned something. I feel as a teacher that the students wants and needs are paramount and should be treated as such. I like to work with whatever pace they're comfortable with and do my best to accommodate them with what they may want out of drumming. I like a laid back, welcome atmosphere with absolutely no judgement in said atmosphere and always be supportive of the student making progress in their endeavors. Read More

I'm a teacher and student at heart. I believe that at any level of learning support and encouragement are always better than just do it because I say so. This is the reason I left a scholarship from Berklee in the 90's to pursue my true passion; touring the world as a professional musician. I have seen a slice of life in my musical travels with the hundreds of artists I have worked with and I bring over 2 decades of experiences to every lesson, with every student, every time and I look forward to meeting new students who want to take the journey with me.. Ultimately, my goal is to make sure you enjoy yourself and want to keep coming back. In that process I will make sure you get results. I design my curriculum for each individual. This is because everyone has their own goals, there own level of ability, and their own needs as far as how to get there. I like to strike a balance of fun and functionality with my lessons. I approach teaching as a purely collaborative endeavor. In initially meeting a student, I ask many questions in order to gage what has inspired the student to study drums, and what particular genres of music and/or artists have brought them to the point of lesson inquiry. I use this information to construct a plan that seeks to meet both short-term and long-term goals. My teaching style is very high-spirited, laid back, yet, demanding - with a touch of fun humor. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonards Essential Elements book, as well a basic understanding of music. Once the student has progressed to have a nice grasp of the fundamentals of music, I usually begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. I also believe in the importance of listening to as many professional recordings as possible of the instrument the student is taking lessons on. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More

I set fun goals and I challenge each student every step of the way to help them reach them. I point out their strengths yet I keep a close eye on their weaknesses and work with them to eliminate any all bad habits in playing instruments. After a few weeks I quiz them and reward them for overcoming any obstacles. I really like to have my students play in front of friends and family after around 3 months of studying. Read More
