It all started when I took my first drum lesson in the 4th grade. From then on, I wanted to play whenever I could. I played in all my school bands from middle school to high school. Graduated Southern University, home of the world famous "Human Jukebox" which I was a member of for 3 years, as well as playing for my church since I was 13. I believe practice is the key to success. I also teach music reading which helps the student to learn how to see music on the page. For beginning students I start all the way at the beginning with the basics of percussion, from the way to hold the sticks and mallets, to how to read music. After the student grasps the fundamentals I introduce solo pieces to build a repertoire so that they may grow their musical knowledge and become a better musician.
