As drum instructor, I taught beats, fills, song structure, technique, and kit-setup, to a group between the ages of 7 and 14 in the summer of 2016 with the "Girls Rock Camp Houston", a non-profit organization. I volunteered to an additional guidance position as a "Band Coach" in 2016 to a group of young teen students. My starting point for my students is typically having them practice posture, hand position and proper mouthpiece placement. After this has been satisfied, I have the students blow using a breathing exercise. From this, I have the students play the first three notes out of their Habits of Good Musician Book 1. Students will continue in the book and proceed to their daily lesson exercises until they are ready to play other higher level music pieces. Read More

We all know most children and even some adults hate eating vegetables, even though it is beneficial for their well-being. The things I teach are like that. I first start off with hand posture: simply learning to hold the sticks correctly eludes even some adults. no matter how far a student has advanced, I always watch their hands. a good hand posture will help the students' sound, as well as help prevent injury. I studied with my Dad who played for Duke Ellington. I went to city college in NY where I learned much about jazz history. I've played with the Ellington Band and learned much about music. I am very passionate about drums and started teaching about 4years ago and I have helped many students get to where they want to get on their instrument.
