In high school I won two downbeat awards for best pop/rock drummer (2004) and outstanding performance for jazz drumming (2005). In high school I played in various touring groups, and started Berklee in 2009. I firmly believe that in order to be proficient in anything it's important to make it your own and simply have fun. I would not be doing my job properly if my student did not have fun or find creativity within the learning process, coming up with silly phrases or thinking about a certain concept in a way that is creative and abstract is my preferred method. I like to ask my students to use there imagination in a way that essentially not only helps them learn but restructures the way they view learning and practicing in general. Read More

I have always had a passion for teaching having worked as a private instructor and marching band instructor throughout my 20's and into my early 30's. I am certified to teach in the public schools. I have taught as a full time band director in the states of Tennessee and Ohio. I also worked as a part time band director in the Pittsburgh Catholic Schools. My methods vary depending on the level of the student. I heavily emphasize fundamentals with beginning students, and I try and make them understand the importance of the essectial rudiments and hand coordination before moving on to the drum set. With intermediate and advanced students I emphasize drum set, while still practicing the fundamentals. I hope to teach more advanced students to learn the confidence and skill to play with a band and learn how to approach songs from a musical, rather than simply technical, point of view. Read More
