I have been teaching for a little over a year now. My students range from ages 8 to almost 60. I specialize in helping beginners and intermediate drummers. I truly enjoy watching a musician accomplish something that they may not have thought was possible. I have so much fun playing the drums. As skill level grows, I try to encourage students to form their own chord progressions as well as using songs that I choose or a song the students chooses that will encourage them to play and learn more songs on their own. When playing the actual drums, we focus heavily on rudimentary understanding of technique, grip, posture and fluidity while playing I have all students work on their 40 standard rudiments, understanding their history, application in both prior and contemporary forms of music, and how to further apply them. The rudiments are like the drummer's scale and are the consistent and perpetual language to speak drums.
