I think my folks realized I was serious, so they bought a little Woolworth's "kiddie" kit and set up drum lessons when I was about 7 and learned to read and write jazz and rock music with my instructor until I was 16. When taking on beginner students, I typically use a blend of method books and novice musical pieces to begin to build musicianship. With intermediate musicians, I tend to seek out anything of interet to the student while incorporating harder repertoire to strengthen musicianship and to continue to peek interest in music. With adult musicians, I let them guide me to their area of interest, and I capitalize on that to guide them to better musicianship, no matter what their skill level may be. Read More

In 2015-2016 I worked at Archimedean Middle Conservatory in Miami, FL teaching 6-8th grade general music. All students learned drum rudiments and call and response techniques. I also ran an after-school drum program where students learned more complex rudiments, rhythms, and how to play as a group.
