Passion, discipline and perseverance. Three key words to become a competent musician in a competitive industry as music is. Learned and mastered music training in Westchester Community College and put all that training into practice in the greatest city in the world, NYC. Previously mentioned, depending on the individual student, my methods and concepts will change. In teaching i have found there is NOT a "perfect way to teach" or "right way". People are different and everyone learns differently and at different paces, so the style of teaching has to change from student to student. However, the biggest principal i have seen in teaching lessons, is if the teacher believes in the student, and the student knows it, results will sky rocket and the student will do anything for that teacher. I believe in encouragement and positive reinforcement at every lesson. I feel that patience is an essential tool in teaching -- every student is unique and proceeds at his or her own pace. I also like to briefly demonstrate the exercises and techniques we are studying, so that my students can see and hear what they are working on, but the student does most of the playing. It gives me great joy when my students are accepted into their school bands and jazz combos as a result of my instruction. Read More

Playing everything from casual gigs to professional musicals and recording sessions. I have toured around the United States and Europe playing music with numerous bands. Read More

My teaching drum set experiences started over 15 years ago when I was playing many different styles of music. I wanted to be able to assist and encourage my students to be able to play drums and vibes or marimba. Teaching mallet instruments to drum set students allowed me to help the student see why he or she played certain drum set grooves and fills at certain points. It always fascinates me when people see how chords (on a mallet instrument) lock into a drum set groove. Read More

It was so hard for me to leave my students in Miami. We had such a great bond filled with motivation, discipline, and passion. Pushing people to achieve what they once thought was impossible is a blessing. To teach another human the gift of physically producing music is a gift. I am ver patient but firm. I like to learn while having fun most of all. I love to play and incorporate live musical interactions with my students. Read More
