Since then, I've been teaching for 6 years in the public and charter school systems. At my current employer, Little Black Pearl Art and Design Academy, I orchestrated a master class with Israeli artist, Idan Raichel. My vocal and rap students performed with him during that class and were invited to perform with him at Chicago's City Winery and Ravinia Pavilion in Highland Park Illinois. My teaching emphasizes practical drumming skills that get students off their feet quickly if they are a beginner, and help move beyond technique and shape musicianship if they are an intermediate player. I put a heavy focus on helping the student become a well rounded musician first and foremost through content that they enjoy. This means addressing the role of the drums and other instruments in music, and encouraging discussion about how advanced drummers make artistic choices. Read More

i was taught piano at the age of 5 years old by my father. i finished many piano method books my father instructed me on. at the age of 8 i learned to play the bass. i was in love with it more than the piano and became my main instrument. finished many bass method books as well. by the time i was 14 i was playing guitar, saxophone, drums and singing in choir. as i got older i began performing in concerts. i have performed in over 3,000 concerts since then and continue to. music is a way of life for me. Two books every student should have in their arsenal Is "Stick Control" by George Stone and "Progressive Steps to Syncopation" by Ted Reed. I also want to guage each students likes so as to keep the lessons engaging and fun, but at the same time instilling a level of discipline. For more advanced students, id simply guage their abilities and tailor the lessons to challenge and get them to those next levels. Read More
