Patience. I have taught children as young as 5 to adults nearing their 50's and the one universal approach I take with all of them is taking every day as a step forward. I am never aggressive with my students. I believe in pushing them to the next level but never through negativity. Playing the Drum Set requires strength in a few key areas. Hand to Hand Coordination, 4 limb interdependence , rhythm vocabulary and Timing. No matter what your skill level is we'll always need to maintain it. The saying is, "if you don't use it you lose it". No matter your skill level I believe it's important to understand what it takes to maintain the physical performance on your instrument. I then lent my production and teaching skills to help lead the FUCP to provide remote-workship music: recording drums, preparing guide-tracks, and editing and/or mixing songs (while training others to do the same), contributing to over 30 of the FUCPs music videos between 2020 and 2022. I continued support the FUCPs 2022 transition into hybrid worship, playing in ensembles and/or working backstage mixing live band live sound for audiences in sanctuary and over video conference simultaneously (while teaching others to do the same).
