I've started giving private lessons when I was a student at music school and I took great enjoyment from sharing my newly acquired knowledge. Later my first formal teaching job took place in Musicians Institute as Teacher's Assistant. I've been a member of the Los Angeles City College advisory board in 1999 and I've thought as a full time teacher at Istanbul Bilgi University Music Department from 2000 to 2008. With all my students, I will always take interest in what they want to learn. I want to make their experience as fun as mine was when I first began. So knowing my students' musical inclinations is important to my methods, because it gives me a direction in which to apply my instruction. I began giving private guitar instruction towards the end of my college studies, and after graduation taught group and private lessons at a music school. At that school I taught a vast range of ages, skill levels, and instruments, from 4 year old beginners, to teenage experts, to adults who needed a brush-up. I learned the wondrous potential of motivated students with supportive parents as well as the futility of forcing an instrument or a style on a student that actually wanted to explore something else. With a beginner guitarist or bassist I want to both keep them excited about learning and teach the the fundamental necessary structure required to develop into a one of a kind musician. I use finger training and strengthening techniques to get the students physical ability in tip top shape, along with innovative chord ideas and mental understanding techniques. Most importantly by the end of every lesson even the first one I leave my students with a cool riff to play to show them that what they are learning is truly working, I believe this will keep students engaged in the learning and keep them working harder for the next lesson. My teaching began in high school when my history teacher asked if I'd give his son guitar lessons. I had so much fun that after I graduated college in 2016, I immediately began teaching again! What began as a part time teaching schedule quickly blossomed into 60+ students per week, teaching at two private music schools in the Providence, RI, area.
