I'm a passionate, motivated, and organized instructor who loves working with my students to share my love of music. I graduated from Northwestern University this June with my Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education and Saxophone Performance. I maintained a studio of six saxophone, piano, and percussion students while earning my degree, so I am very experienced with private teaching! As a saxophone player, woodwinds are my specialty. For beginners of any age, I begin by discussing goals, milestones, and how we will achieve them. I do use method books, but only recommend those that will be useful in and out of lessons. I keep lessons fun and engaging, and always demonstrate before expecting the student to do the same. Fundamentals as building blocks are always needed, but I never keep a learning plan the same from student to student- goals (that can always be changed) are what I use to guide a student to be confident for any performance. In the first lesson, my teacher taught me the theme from The Simpsons, and I was sold.
