I start beginners off with the Rubank Elementary Method, which introduces reading, scales, arpeggios, and expressive devices such as dynamics and articulation. I also like students to start with improvisation, composition, and ear training as soon as possible. I encourage them to both work on whatever repertoire interests them and find new types of music they don't know they're interested in yet. I am a passionate jazz saxophonist, composer, and educator originally from Los Angeles area. In 2018, I graduated with B.A. in Saxophone Performance with an emphasis in Jazz Studies at California State University, Long Beach. I am currently attending Manhattan School of Music for a Masters degree in Jazz Composition. Soon, I began teaching adults as well and when I moved to Washington D.C. in fall of 2006, I became the Music Instructor at The Art and Drama Therapy Institute, a center for adults with developmental disabilities.
