Instruments: Piano Saxophone Flute Clarinet

I believe that every teacher says this, but I teach at my students learning pace. Especially for beginners I want them to learn how to play their instrument the first time around, not the second or third time. For me as a teacher I set high expectations for my students so they know exactly what they should strive for. I always give positive feedback and then some strategies to help them along their musical way. Read More

Instruments: Guitar Clarinet Bass Guitar Double Bass

In regards to lessons it is my intention to first and fore most understand the student, what they want to learn, and why they want to learn it. -I have a strong understanding of music theory which is something I would like to pass on to my students. -I apply technique for getting comfortable with the instrument, as well as theory to understand the ins and outs of the instrument. Instruments: Piano Saxophone Flute Clarinet

I first began teaching while still completing my Bachelors degree at William Paterson in 2011. Most of my students were beginning level piano students, but I had a few more advanced students as well as some people studying saxophone with me. My teaching philosophy is to combine teaching the technique of an instrument with learning songs as well as theory and improvisation/composition. Everyone learns technique, but learning music that I wanted to learn, learning how those songs were written (theory), and eventually elaborating on those songs (improvisation), and writing my own music (composition), was what really got me deeply engaged in the act of practicing and making music, and I have found over several years of teaching that it keeps my students engaged and enjoying the learning process. Instruments: Voice Trumpet Saxophone Flute Clarinet Oboe

My greatest joy in teaching is seeing my students surpass me and go on to become musicians that love expressing their souls through song! It is my desire to see each student progress at their own rate without stress. first I make it a point to find out why they want to learn and where do they picture themselves going with this ability. Once we have established realistic goals for the student I like to encourage them to try out for competitions and music groups, so that they are exercising their talents effectively. Read More

Instruments: Clarinet

I am very flexible in my approach.  I understand that there are many way to achieve the desired result.  I am always available to answer questions and welcome them.  I am not doctrinaire in my approach.  Each student is unique in their strengths and areas which need more attention and I strive to meet these needs on the individual level. I enjoy working with enthusiastic students, regardless of level. I find listening to recordings and live performances to be an invaluable part of the learning process and try to include this whenever possible. Read More
