I am a composer and clarinetist who wants to fill the world with music by composing, performing, and teaching. I graduated from the University of Mary Washington in 2011 with a BA in Music, where I primarily focused on clarinet performance, as well as music theory and composition. I am currently a master's student at George Mason University, and continue to actively play that clarinet. Once a good foundation is established, I like to move into solo and ensemble repertoire to develop lyricism and expression. For adults, I find out what the students are interested in, and direct my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun regardless of ability level. My methods vary between each student. For beginning students, that are not learning in a school setting, I typlically start with Hal Lenard's Essential Elements For Band. Once the student had progressed, I will start to introduce solo repetoire that the student will be instested in, which could be pop tunes or other type of music. This will encourage the student's passion for music to grow. If the student is in a school setting, then the student will work on all of the music for school and solo repetoire. Read More
