I served as the clarinet section leader and then woodwind captain in my high school marching band, where I was responsible for conducting rehearsals and sectionals as well as teaching music to other woodwind students in grades 9-12. I have students performing in PMEA district band, honors bands, HS marching bands and community bands. I work with clarinet and saxophone students of all levels, and beginner piano students. I am generally laid back and understanding of a student's wishes and goals when learning a new instrument. Most folks are not trying to become world-class players on the bagpipe and I recognize that. The more laid back my student is, the more laid back I am. If a student is very serious, then I will match that and be very serious as an instructor.
