I have studied music at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and the University of North Texas, and during my collegiate tenure I took lessons on both classical and jazz saxophone, classical clarinet and classical flute, as well as having participated in a number of both classical and jazz ensembles. After working out of the book for an apropriate amount of time, I introduce solo repertiore from both pop and classical genres. I began teaching clarinet lessons as a college student in 1990, and got my first job as a band director in 1993. I have not taught lessons in a home studio setting (only at school), but would be able to teach students in my home if desired, or would travel to students' homes or teach online if preferred. I have taught piano, drums, and all band instruments since 1993. I've been teaching lessons for students and also giving advise for others for 35+ years. I've been told that I have a very gentle nature. I guess it's the way I was brought up. anyway.....I teach to a students strengths and weaknesses. For example; One may have a young sax student that has very good sound right out the gate but cannot understand the language on the page.
