Each week at the end of their lesson, my students and I will sit down without the cello and discuss everything that they learned and everything that they need to work on for their next lesson. Together, we set small realistic goals and acknowledge accompishments with small rewards in order to nurture and embolden each student. In addition, these are instruments are hard, but not impossible to learn. I started playing cello at 10 years of age, and I have had good teachers and bad teachers. Generally, for my beginning students, I assign a regiment of short pieces and technical etudes from a variety of method books. I find this to be an effective way to build technique while also cultivating musicality. As a student advances, I begin assigning works from the standard cello repertoire, which includes pieces such as Bach Cello Suites, concertos, and sonatas. Read More

I began my journey to become a Suzuki teacher in 2021 and can teach levels 1-10 which means I can assist students from the beginner level to the advanced level. The Suzuki method has taught me that talent isn't innate and can be taught - with enough time and effort any student can achieve the level they wish. As a dedicated professional musician, I am passionate about music education and find fulfillment in working with individuals of all ages to impart the art of playing the cello. In 2023, I proudly graduated from Northwestern University with a doctoral degree in Cello Performance. Prior to this, I earned a master's degree in Cello Performance from Northwestern University and a bachelor's degree in the same field from the prestigious Eastman School of Music. Read More
