Whatever you do, make sure you practice right after your lesson AND the day following - retention will be 90%! When practicing, aim 3 times in a row flawlessly. For beginning students it is important to learn standard techniques such as chords and techniques, I use songs and beginner method books based on a student's learning goals, age, and talent level for lesson materials.
