I graduated with a Master's Degree in Music from New York State University at Stony Brook and also earned a performance certificate from Northern Illinois University in Dekalb. My instructors include world celebrated Beaux Arts Trio cellist Bernard Greenhouse and Russian cellist Raya Garbusova. During my college years, I had toured and performed extensively with Young Artists’ Concert Chamber Music Group, which also includes televised performances. In addition to that, I was selected to appear regularly in a chamber music series in New York City with many renowned artists including violinist Raphael Hillyer, bassist Julius Levine, and clarinetist Charles Russo. I have worked with students at a variety of levels and will meet the their needs accordingly. I ask my students what their goals are and then build an individualized lesson plan based on their needs. We can work on music for performances or for personal growth. I want to help my students reach their musical goals. I usually teach students out of method books to begin with, and while we work through these I ask the students to help select pieces for fun that they might also want to learn for perfomance. For younger students and beginners, I like to keep lessons fun and short, allowing them to learns the elements of playing while enjoying the thrill of making beautiful sounds. I like to start with New Direction for Strings for fundamentals and short songs , while peppering in pieces from the suzuki books and fun exercises I've picked up along the way to facilitate learning away from the instrument. For more experienced students, I like to make a musical diet of etudes, scales, exercises, and repertoire to facilitate a well rounded technique, dexterity, and musical freedom. Read More

For beginning students, I usually begin heavily with physical technique, music theory exercises, and scales. From there, I use Rick Mooney's Position Pieces as well as solo repertoire from the Suzuki books to develop musicality and efficiency. The solo works chosen are designed to work toward the interests and goals of the students (competitions and/or genre interests). For advanced or adult students, I treat our lessons more broadly, integrating cello playing, music history, and an exploration of the genre as a whole to establish passion and long-term goals.
