Whether it's introducing jazz scales, weaving in a pop tune, or exploring various genres, I aim to make each lesson engaging and relatable to the individual student. One of my primary goals as a teacher is to select pieces that resonate with the student's musical preferences while simultaneously challenging and enhancing their classical skills. This approach not only keeps students motivated but also ensures they develop a broad musical vocabulary and appreciation for different styles. Read More

I began teaching in 2016 as a Strings Coach (violin, viola, and cello) with the Harmony Project. The Harmony Project brings music education to underserved communities at no cost to them. It was here that I realized that I am very passionate about music education and I want to continue seriously pursuing it. Since then, I have been teaching privately and have had experience teaching students from age 6-18, as well as adult students. Read More

My teaching experience goes back to my college days, as I began to start teaching private lessons, and currently still teaching students. I have taught students from beginner to advanced levels, from age 9 to adult. I have taught face-to-face in studio lessons, and also through online lessons. Not only have I taught music private lessons, I have experiences in teaching in a classroom, at a kindergarten and elementary as a substitute and a main teacher. Read More

For young children I usually use the Suzuki method books for song selection and through those we can focus on the basic fundamentals of positioning and technical development. It is easy to see what needs to be addressed through those first few songs and we can go from there. For older children and adults we can select from a wider variety with input from the student and we can work on whatever technical issues arise based on the level of the student. Read More

The cello’s sonorous and vibrant tone make it the most magnificent (razkochen) and lyrical instrument .With its deep and velvet tones the cello is the closest to the human voice instrument, following the inflection of speech and song. That make the cello unique and attempting children and adult to study it. The primary emphasis is on giving students a thorough grounding in the fundamentals of cello technique -- a relaxed, comfortable hand position, correct intonation, bowing, and tone production. For beginning students I like to begin with a combination of Hal Leonard's Essential Elements and Suzuki Method books. I find Essential Elements to be useful for learning the fundamentals of playing the instrument and music theory. However, Suzuki offers the ability for students to quickly play solo repertoire. I also incorporate learning and understanding scales for the purpose of learning fingering patterns and intonation. As students progress, I also find Rick Monney's Positions Pieces extremely valuable. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, its important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress and this makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the students, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More
