BA, California State University, Fullerton, Music Education
I am an energetic and passionate teacher who strives to pass on my love and knowledge of music. I am a recent graduate from Cal State Fullerton with a degree in music education. During my time in school, I focused not only on cello performance and technique, but on various teaching methods and pedagogies as well. I have a true passion for teaching and have had the opportunity to work with middle school programs as a teacher/conductor assistant.
I began teaching at a very young age in church for various children's program. After seeing how rewarding working with children is, I began teaching music in an elementary school's after school program. I soon expanded into teaching at the middle school level, and adults.
For beginning students I like to begin with a combination of Hal Leonard's Essential Elements and Suzuki Method books. I find Essential Elements to be useful for learning the fundamentals of playing the instrument and music theory. However, Suzuki offers the ability for students to quickly play solo repertoire. I also incorporate learning and understanding scales for the purpose of learning fingering patterns and intonation. As students progress, I also find Rick Monney's Positions Pieces extremely valuable. For adult students, I apply the same methods as well; however, I also learn what their interests are and begin to bring easy pieces to play, often duets.
Every student is different and learns in different manners, which makes teaching a challenge. This is a challenge that motivates and excites me. I make sure to put all my effort into adapting to every student. Overall, I set reasonable goals for each student that are challenging, yet attainable. I believe in providing positive reinforcement while pushing a student to be better. Ultimately, my goal is to transfer my love for cello and music to the student and will always find a way to do so.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
OkAre you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
