I have been insfluenced and surrounded with music since childhood. I have experience in multiple aspects of music from performance to teaching and just about everything in between. I love working with students to achieve their goals. The most rewarding feeling for me is when my student feels they've accomplished a technique or method on their respective instrument. I strive to keep lessons joyous yet keep the student motivated to practice at home. Read More

My musical journey commenced at the age of 13, and since then, I have garnered numerous accolades and recognitions, both nationally and internationally. Notable achievements include securing 1st Prize in the 2017 Arnuero International Chamber Music Competition, the 2013 Eastman School Concerto Competition, and the 2013 American Protege International String and Piano Competition. Additionally, I achieved 2nd Prize in the 2012 Eastern Connecticut Instrumental Competition. My passion for performance has taken me to renowned venues across the globe, with recitals held in countries such as the United States, Spain, Switzerland, Denmark, Austria, Taiwan, and Canada. I have been teaching for over 25 years. I have 5 children of my own who are all musicians. I have studied pedagogy at the University of Illinois and have also studied the Suzuki method. I feel lucky that I can take all of these experiences and methods and combine them to what works best for my students. What I have found is that there is not one clear cut method- every student learns in a different way. Read More
Instruments: Piano Cello
I like to incorporate 4 hands playing of fun pieces as a diversion from the solo playing plus I encourage my students to accompany me on the piano in a few 'cello pieces so that they acquire a good sense of ensemble playing. I have "musical get-togethers" where everyone plays for their family friends and other students and I will sometimes bring in a professional colleague where we will treat the students to a performance so they can see what happens when one becomes a "pro" - it is my way of saying, "good job everyone"! For stringed instruments, I uses the Suzuki method for teaching the basic repertory of the instruments. This method is an ear training method in which the student plays by ear. It starts out very simple so students of all ages can learn and progress very quickly. For learning to read music I use one of the method books like "A Tune a day" or Strictly Strings which teach the fundamentals of read music and music theory. Read More

I like to create goals with the student, not just for them. In other words, I make sure the student's opinion is always taken in consideration to ensure that every goal set is within reason and that the student genuinely thinks it is realistic for them. I encourage students to keep a practice journal where they write down the amount of time they practiced, what scale and technique exercise they practiced, and the pieces they practiced. Read More
