For beginners, I would first teach them the basic sitting and hand postures, basic note-reading, and basic music theories. After they know how to play piano in an appropriate posture, I would like them to start with Hanon piano exercises. I believe it is a great book to warm up the fingers and a great finger exercises for all levels of piano players. Other than those basic exercises, I would also like to introduce them to one to two simple pieces that are fun to play. Read More

I began teaching in 2016 as a Strings Coach (violin, viola, and cello) with the Harmony Project. The Harmony Project brings music education to underserved communities at no cost to them. It was here that I realized that I am very passionate about music education and I want to continue seriously pursuing it. For younger cello students I love Suzuki book 1- for older students I use Lee. For my piano students I start with Bastien series. I always try to keep my students engaged and lessons positive. For beginning students I like to begin with a combination of Hal Leonard's Essential Elements and Suzuki Method books. I find Essential Elements to be useful for learning the fundamentals of playing the instrument and music theory. However, Suzuki offers the ability for students to quickly play solo repertoire. I also incorporate learning and understanding scales for the purpose of learning fingering patterns and intonation. As students progress, I also find Rick Monney's Positions Pieces extremely valuable. Read More

I began my journey to become a Suzuki teacher in 2021 and can teach levels 1-10 which means I can assist students from the beginner level to the advanced level. The Suzuki method has taught me that talent isn't innate and can be taught - with enough time and effort any student can achieve the level they wish.
