I am a positive and encouraging instructor, and emphasize proper technique, music theory, and fundamentals through a variety of musical styles ranging from classical to popular music. My students are all ages (I once had a student start at the age of 70!) and come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. While I do teach using standard, classical repertoire more often than not, my goal as a teacher is to help my students develop a deep love and passion for music; hence, I often find it incredibly helpful to branch out into other genres! I started teaching privately in 2004, and have been doing so in either my own studio or in the studios of others ever since.. In 2013, I started contracting with the Anaheim City School District to teach string classes in their after-school music program. Since moving to Texas, I have started orchestra programs at two different schools in Dallas county, while continuing to build my own studio. I started my teaching carreer in 1994, teaching doublebass and bass guitar. Two years later I began offering guitar lessons. In 1998 I offered cello lessons. My passion for teaching has grown over the years, and brought me great pleasure helping beginner students gain skills, confidence, and a sense of pride and accomplishment in learning to successfully play a musical instrument. I been able to teac advanced bass students techniques that increased their playing skills and understanding of their instrument and music in general. My greatest pleasure was helping a young, nervous, shy, and self conscious young boy, and over time, with his efforts and my guidance, was able to apply and get accepted into music college.
