In 2010 I graduated from Evangel University with a Bachelors of Music Education degree with a concentration in strings. I have performed all over the U.S. in my collegiate touring orchestra and even had the opportunity to go to Europe and perform there as well. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. It was my 4th grade dream to play Carnegie Hall, so I practiced practiced practiced and finally got my shoot as a senior in high school. After focusing on such a singular goal, I began to see what this amazing instrument can do. I want my students to have fun, but to also engage in very structured learning. All students must find time to practice during the week, but the parents must be a huge part of helping their child learn this new instrument. We will set weekly, realistic goals for each lesson. During the lesson, we will review the last concept that was learned, go over the lesson for the day and then create a lesson for the following week and be sure that each lesson is explained and understood.
