I have been playing violin for more than a decade. I began teaching violin three years ago at the same music school I started my own studies in. I started as a summer chamber councilor and then began teaching students as a private instructor. I use mainly the Suzuki method, and other non-traditional methods. My goal is to have my students progress in their instrument, and not only gain important skills, but also grow to love music! Read More

I typically use the Applebaum String Builder method books, and supplement with solo pieces as needed. I encourage regular practice, as students who feel they are progressing and doing well tend to enjoy their instrument more. As they become more advanced, they are encouraged to start giving opinions on what they want to learn. One thing that makes my studio unique is that I don't just teach how to play an instrument, I teach my students how to practice. Read More

I usually start all of my piano students from the Alfred series. Those that are more advanced will complete the curriculum quicker.. Alfred seems to offer a more detailed instruction technique. It offers step by step instructions. The student can almost teach himself. For guitar I use the Everyday guitar method. This method introduces each string at a time. By the end of the book, you will be playing songs on each string. Read More

I want my students to have fun, but to also engage in very structured learning. All students must find time to practice during the week, but the parents must be a huge part of helping their child learn this new instrument. We will set weekly, realistic goals for each lesson. During the lesson, we will review the last concept that was learned, go over the lesson for the day and then create a lesson for the following week and be sure that each lesson is explained and understood. I use a very concise methodology in my instruction. I evaluate the students level, from there I make a step by step guide (of selected piece and etudes) to show the student their progress into the next level. I also encorperate ideas in theory, history, and ear training. Also if the student has yet to learn how to read musical notation. that will be taught along side with regular instrumental lessons.
