As a professional performing and recording musician, I have been honing my craft for over 18 years. I have been teaching guitar professionally for three years both privately and on staff as an instructor at School Of Rock in Venice, CA. My students range in age from 7 years old through to people in their 50s. With experience teaching a multitude of styles and techniques in both one on one and in larger group contexts, I have a great way of communicating things to people with different styles of learning. It is important to me that every student remembers that despite all the hard work and practice involved in learning an instrument, the ultimate goal is to have fun and to connect with other through music. I want to my students to feel relaxed, and unafraid to ask questions of make mistakes. I emphasize the importance of regular practice, but I also want my students to get to know themselves well, to progress at their own pace, and to really find joy in the journey that is learning to play music! Inspiring new students to develop enthusiasm for music is incredible. I believe that every student learns in a different way and progresses at their own speed. I set attainable goals each week and give students the tools they need to be great even when they are not in the lesson space. By tailoring my lesson to the student's abilities and preferences, students learn to develop their own musical direction and appreciation. Read More

I have an interactive yet focused style of teaching. I can(but don't recommend) to use the Suzuki method. I feel that all aspects related to the instruments weigh much importance in teaching the student. However, with the Suzuki method, the student's primary focus is to learn pieces rapidly and climb the level of difficulty as fast as possible. This prevents him/her to fully understand and analyze the piece and lesson and it can also turn the student away from pursuing the instrument further.  Read More

I try to adapt my teaching style to however I see the student (or peer) is most effective in learning. Some people are more chart based, and like the bars written out in time so they can follow it in a more technical manner. Some have a hard time reading music, so they go off of feel. This is more of an intuitive approach to learning. Both are fine for me, but depending on how the student is, one may be better than the other. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to when I was in high school, when I began teaching beginning students of all instruments 10 years ago. I have been consistently teaching students in their homes, my home, and online for the past 5 years. Ive found that introducing students to as many different styles of music as possible goes a long way in helping students enjoy playing their instrument and listening to recordings of their instrument.
