I use a combination of different methods rather than one method. The parts to my approach is; 1) Exposure, by listening to high information music. 2) Discovery, becoming familiar with the chosen instrument by means of discovering how to make music with it and what are the possibilities with said instrument. 2) Association, by learning songs and pieces that the student is already familiar with. 3) Analysis, breaking apart songs and sounds that the student is familiar with to understand the theory behind it. 4) Aplication, by using the knowledge aquiered through learning familiar with to learn new pieces of music. When receiving a student I first like to get to know the student by friending them. Asking question as to what their likes are and just getting to know them. For the beginner we start of with a Method book that fits their age and personaity and go from there. For the student that already has had past music experience I like to hear them play at first and see at what level they are to be able to place them on the correct method. Read More

For adults, I use materials relating to whatever stylistic or technical goals they may have. Read More

For beginning students I like to get them to have proper technique when it comes to the right and left hand placement on the bass. I also like them to get familiar with a sense of time so I use a metronome and teach them about how the beat works along with playing the notes on the bass. For intermediate students I gauge their knowledge of music theory such as scales and arpeggios and work on those along with tackling songs that they might want to play. Read More

I approach teaching in a fun, practical way. It is easy to get swept up in technique and theory when learning an instrument. While those are very important, it is essential to apply them musically. Every concept I teach, I will provide an example in an actual piece of music. I will help students set realistic goals to achieve to keep the passion going. Music is my life and I want to share my love for music with my students. Read More

Attempting to learn an instrument is difficult, and doing so in the presence of an already experienced musician can be intimidating and even discouraging. I am well aware of this fact and make ample effort to make my students comfortable, and to own their music as their own. Each student I teach knows that they are not to simply become a copy of me- instead, their goal is to become their own unique creator that is unlike anyone else. Read More
