I began teaching piano in high school and continued into my college years. I then spent the next decade touring in bands and recording in some of the top studios in Los Angeles. I have worked with some of the best in the business including Rick Rubin, John Shanks, and Jason Falkner, just to name a few. These experiences have given me the knowledge of being a musician in the real world, which I try and impart to my students. Read More

I believe in getting the student interested in the concepts and styles themselves, i like to introduce them to different ways of playing and my main method is to show them how it can be exciting to play/learn. For eg, for someone who loves games, I would show them how to play chords and melody ( on a piano ) at the same time by using the Minecraft theme song as an example, or any game that they might know and enjoy so it gets them interested to want to play and learn, through that i will show them dfferent techniques and concepts, this way they are already enjoying what they are learning and at no point will not want to practice it on their own. We will start with the 12 bar blues (in order to work on finger dexterity) and work our way up into the pentatonic, major, and minor scales. Students will also learn during this time, various techniques to add more expressiveness or feeling to their playing such as slides, bends, vibrato, hammer ons/offs, double stops, etc. For the later stages of this course, students will learn about other scales of interest (melodic minor, harmonic minor, etc.), scale modalitys (the modal scales), five string arpeggios, tapping arpeggios, and advanced techniques such as tremolo picking, sweep picking, hybrid picking, economy picking, harmonics (natural, artificial, and pinch), and tapping (both one hand and two handed). I am teacher who works to inspire students to really go for it, and use the guitar and bass to express themselves! I approach the music from the students desires and favorite music so that always sustains your passion and interest, and makes and keeps learning and practicing fun. I like all kinds of rock, blues, and jazz, and love to teach songs, and song writing as well. My emphasis is on self expression and performance, and then reading, theory and technique. Read More

My approach is highly structured. We might start with warm-ups. This can mean, for example, Hanon exercises on the piano. Or playing scales on the guitar. I like to set tempos and practice rhythm as we run scales and chords. Sometimes I use a beat box. I believe in getting the client playing. I play only to demonstrate. I can also be a side player, and play a rhythm part, if the client is playing a solo. Read More

I like to work based on what each student needs. I encourage the student to take his or her own interests into account on a regular basis. I also use a basic foundation to determine what the student needs to attack first, such as technique, harmony, ear trinning and scales. Of course, finger, pick, and slap styles are included. All kind of styles & genres are welcome, from the more basic to the more complex genres. Read More

Professional but fun. First we review the last couple of lessons, and then we do new- building upon what we have done earlier. Each student is unique, and I teach to them individually. I call it my Individual Music Program! I really get a kick out of seeing my students learn and progress along the musical staff, as the month go on., Often times I will get a brother and sister for lessons teaching them to play music together and become comfortable performing for family members and the public.
