I teach students from beginners through adults and tailor each lesson to the individual. My teaching style combines structured concepts from method books with real examples from well-known songs to help students understand how music works in a practical way. I regularly ask students about their interests and goals and either teach those directly or suggest related material that helps them progress. During lessons, I record short demonstration videos and provide detailed tabs with practice notes so students leave with clear guidance on what to work on between sessions. Read More

I encourage lots of individuality and fun. Music is a way to express yourself. I'm never teaching for the purpose for the student to become better than others to win awards and perform at recitals. Self expression and achieving personal goals to me are far more important than winning competitions and on-paper accomplishments. I'll always tailor my lessons for each individual student, and I'll try my best to keep my lessons within the student's area of interest. Read More

Of course there are some that only want to play the guitar for their own personal gain, IE "Picking and Grinning" and to that I understand and commend. Read More

I hated school when I was younger. I will never let my lessons feel like school. We work at each individual students pace. Once warm-ups and whatever key technique we are talking about that day are covered the lesson turns more into an educationally structured band practice. My students know they can let go and just sing. If something needs to be worked on, we work on it, and I will give notes and how to fix things throughout. Read More

My curriculum is largely up to my student, I write custom excercises as well as reenforce musical notation through transcription of the student's favorite music. Being classically trained I place a heavy importance on technique and the physical attributes of playing string instruments. I can hope to instill the passion I feel for music in my students lives, I believe music is the spice of life and inevitably enriching to the player! Read More
