My teaching style is is a combination of an active and exciting engagement with the student but with a no-pressure relaxed environment that the student can be comfortable in. I fully invest myself into each of my students and keep track of their progress diligently to be sure to cater to their needs. Sessions include breathing/relaxation/meditation, John Cage jamming (where we listen to each other very attentively and make sounds on random objects for long periods of time), groove practice, spoken-word poetry, songwriting, and more conventional rock band stuff. I encourage students (and myself) to live their everyday lives musically, listening aesthetically to the world around them and paying attention to their own inner soundtracks (imagination). I started taking private music lessons at age 7 and never stopped! From piano, to flute, and eventually to electric bass and upright bass. Supplemented by music programs through my schooling, I progressed rapidly on upright bass, starting at age 15, and graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance. Starting in high school I began teaching students as young as 6 and as old as 65, providing in-home guitar and bass lessons.
