Instruments: Bass Guitar Music
For beginning students, I typically start with lessons I have developed to get them on the right track . Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce bass parts that are appropriate for their first performance with other musicians. Ultimately every student is different and has different needs and expectations. With that in mind I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More

Having taught students of all ages and skill levels I create a curriculum with the student that suits their goals and the practice schedule they are able to commit too. A part of my method is working with the student to create a practice schedule and plan so they can benefit as much as possible from their practice. I like to use music that the student is interested in playing to practice fundamentals while working on the repertoire they enjoy. Read More

I have used many different methods over the years and will supplement any method book to meet the individual needs of the student. My preferred method for young students is the FJH Harris Young Beginner's Guitar Method series. For older students I tend to use either Mel Bay or Hal Leonard methods to teach the fundamentals and then add onto them with whatever suits the student best. For advanced students I prefer the William Leavitt methods from Berklee University Press, which will be a challenge for anyone! Read More

An Effective Teacher Needs to Practice What They Preach. A good educator must first have mastered their art and studied the principles underlying human development to fully understand how to teach someone the art of music. I borrowed a guitar from a friend and began practicing and learning and playing. Eighteen hours a day every day until I got out of the army. When I got out I traveled from San Francisco to NYC and back plying in a few bands. Read More

Hi there! I'm a Sacramento based violinist, violist, and bass player. I've been an instructor since 2020 and have had the privilege to work with some great students who I've gotten to explore their creativity with. I studied music at Sacramento State's School of Music at the age of 16 and began studying viola under Anna Kruger as well as chamber music under Anna Presler and Andy Luchansky. I also was granted the opportunity to study under William Barbini, a former New York philharmonic violinist and a student of Ivan Galamian. Read More

I have been teaching since around 2011, after only have been playing guitar for 2 years. I learned very quickly , primarily playing metal and jazz. I played trumpet in band when I was a child, so this helped me learn to sight-read music on guitar. This allowed me to play in the university bands at both schools I attended, mainly playing jazz music. Teaching has spawned a fiery passion that I want to explore and encourage, eventually making it to the University level teaching classes and private lessons. Read More
