I began teaching bass lessons when I was in high school. I taught bass for 11 years as an adjunct instructor at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. I also worked as a clinician at the UAB Jazz Summit. Many of my students have gone on to play professionally and a few have gone on to become music teachers themselves. I'm very big on motivation. I tell my students from day one how great there doing and give them something to work towards. For example if I have a guitar student that really wants to be a lead guitarist I will play the solo of one of there favorite songs and teach them a small part of it or all of it if they are at an advanced level.
