I began teaching lessons 8 years ago when I was 16. I was heavily involved in my church's music program and I began with a few students who were fairly young. By the time I was 18, I was teaching over 15 lessons a week to students ranging from 4 to 45 years old. During my college years I was in school full-time, so I taught a small number of students on and off; however the experience I gained at Berklee significant increased the quality of education I'm able to give a student. I am is a singer, songwriter and guitarist based out of Nashville, TN. Although firmly rooted in bluegrass and classic country, my music incorporates elements from all facets of American roots music drawing inspiration from jazz, blues, rockabilly and old-time. I lead my own country band which plays original music as well as the music of my honky-tonk heroes such as Merle Haggard, George Jones and Gram Parsons. I am an in-demand side man and when not performing with the band, I play guitar and sing with a number of other musicians and bands including The Bad Oats, Miles Burger and Corrina Tadros. Read More

I approach teaching from a place of understanding. The last thing anyone wants is to be frustrated by the thing they're passionate about! Not everyone learns at the same pace, so if a student is struggling with a passage or technique, I'll set realistic goals to motivate them to improve their skill in a way that entices them to continue. Whether it's breaking up a song into sections or slowing down a complicated solo until we nail the right notes, there's always a light at the end of the tunnel. Read More

Typically, I begin with regimented learning. For guitar students, I use Hal Leonards Guitar Method 1. For voice students, I teach basic breathing exercises and fun, sustainable and memorable warm-ups. From there, I begin to prep them for their first solo performances. I offer studio-wide performance opportunities for new and experienced students to show off their skills! As they progress, I teach to their interests and needs. Some students may be in high school prepping for Solo and Ensemble, or All-State Chorus auditions, or even college auditions. Read More

No single learning path works for all students, it’s about finding and reinforcing your strengths, and empowering you to solve your own problems. As my old cello teacher used to say, “I’m not teaching you how to play the cello, I’m teaching you how to teach yourself how to play the cello.” Providing students with the tools and guidance they need to practice and improve: that’s what I strive to do. I have been teaching since around 2011, after only have been playing guitar for 2 years. I learned very quickly , primarily playing metal and jazz. I played trumpet in band when I was a child, so this helped me learn to sight-read music on guitar. This allowed me to play in the university bands at both schools I attended, mainly playing jazz music. Teaching has spawned a fiery passion that I want to explore and encourage, eventually making it to the University level teaching classes and private lessons. Read More
